"Without liberty, individual freedom, property rights--the ability to say, "I created this ... this is mine," our spirits shrink and anything more than mediocrity must be coaxed out by the point of a gun (literally and figuratively). We must preserve individual liberty and the right to keep the fruits of our labor, AND we must solve the problem of poverty and hunger; but we cannot do the latter at the sacrifice of the former, because we will have neither." --Ken LaVoie

My name is Ken LaVoie. I am a non-conformist, ADHD type and I've been lucky enough to have had a few great teachers, guardian angels, and toolmakers in my life. Enough that I'm able to have an almost eerily normal life. I am a square peg that is managing--sometimes very uncomfortably--to fit into a round hole. I am also the former Lead Guitar player for the band Rick West and Cherokee. I have also written two books, and own and manage several business ventures, both "brick and mortar" and online. I am available for:

Lately, I've been haunted by finding a lasting purpose and legacy through my music and writing. I've discovered that what really "juices me" is creating something that deeply touches people. After watching the DVD "Heart of Gold", which profiled some very passionate and emotional music by Neil Young, I've had a yearning to create something that speaks to people's souls--Music and words that cause people to drop their pettiness, anger, and smallness that their hearts are drowning in. I want my work to empower them to catch a glimpse of the light that we all "bury beneath the bushel" so often--namely our own quiet greatness. What they do with it after that is their own business.
However inspring that sounds, my story is common: I seem to keep myself busy enough to avoid sinking my teeth into full-on creative pursuits. I'll get there. I'm cursed and blessed enough to be aware of my incessant "hiding out" and eventually I'll be spotted. I know I've got to start; inspiration only comes to those who hunt it down.
If you have a similar vision and want to talk about or execute a project that jibes with the energy here, please CONTACT ME.
My life-long love of the Stones would put me in a position of giving a tentative "yes" if someone wanted to put together a Stones tribute band as well! (As long as I get to be Keith!)
Currently, I am putting together a fifty-song cover showlist for the purpose of performing either solo or duet. My first book, "How to start a lawn care business a whole new way" is self-published by Lulu.com and is available at Barnes and Noble (bn.com) as well a Amazon.com . My second book is in the process of a complete rehab and is unavailable for the moment. Keep on
